help! car won't start unless i push start it

i just replaced the starter. the motor won't turnover at all. i can see the flywheel spinning but the motor doesn't turn over. what do i need to do?

i can push start the car with no problem.

check for spark... seized distributor?

if there is no or little light from headlight before starting your car. probably the battery wires should be tighten. --> happened to me

Or did you mean it turns the flywheel but not fast enough to start the engine??

When you pop start it does it idle high? Rough??

idle is the same, it'll crank up now for some reason. go figure...

could a connection somewhere be loose while the engine is cold?

Hmmm, good one this! Yeah, could be a loose connection at the starter. these babies get upset if there's a loose wire anywhere.

When you turn the ignition key does the starter motor turn but doesn't crank the engine or does it crank....?

Do you mean exactly what you wrote? I doubt it, but if so, it means the flywheel is not connected to the crank (sheared bolts?), and you had better check it right now.
