So how are Maaco $399 specials?
My paint is bad all over and I think its time for a new paintjob.
Anyway, what is the deal with these specials?
I hear the don't mask very well, and it's just paint over what existing paint you have.
Do they just put a 1 single coat over existing paint?
Is there a clearcoat included in this?
thanks

i got the $299 one, they sand down the car first but the original color is still there, i had my 4th gen green changed to viper blue and all i have received are compliments, it turned out a lot better than i expected, door jams were all clean and around the engine bay was clean, the masking was good, so i would highly recommend
wow!!!! all i hear about maco is that they dont remove the paint from before and just paint over it and they only put like 1 coat but i guess it depends if yuor lucky to get a good paint job from them..IMO,i think u should save some mnore money and have a better body shop paint your car...it might be a little more expensive but i can guarantee you the quality would be 10x better than a maco paintjob
i ve known people who can do most of the sanding and body work themself.. not to hard to sand.. and they then do the maaco thing..
those have come out great..

With paint you really do get what you pay for. Good paint work is expensive.
Im a really really picky guy when it comes to my car so I personally wouldnt take it to them.
thats my .02

I would highly recommend the one near me, every maaco is diff. They all do diff jobs. Ive taken 2 cars to the maaco near me, there were minor imperfections in the paint in tiny spots but nothing i would cry about. I drive my car and beat the crap out of it daily, i was extremely happy with the way it came out and I will definitely use them again.

Yeah, but it will be an integrated clear coat which SUCKS. The only good paint job is a BASE/CLEAR paint job.

I'm having a friend spray my car(integrated clear), he's doing it for free, I'm just buying the paint.. my car is FAR from mint and has been rearended, I just want the whole car the same color again i guess
Most people will just say research into the Maaco that you want to take your car to...It really all depends on who is doing it. Ask if you can see an example of their work. I still would never take my car there unless it was my beater.

like someone said above, every maaco is different. I know some of the paint shops near me take pictures of the car after it's finish, so ask if they have any pictures of customers cars. I personally wouldn't take it to them, i've seen shitty jobs come out of the one near me. so do some research and don't waste 400 bucks.

Maaco Paint job, mine was around 450 (if i hadn't had some bodywork), with 4 year warranty.
These were taken about 4-5 months after paint. This is also my beater, so i didn't worry about it coming out amazing, but was very happy. no overspray, fixed any blemishes, and was without the car for about a week.

i will be keeping the car for a while, it's a 96 w/85k miles on it.
however, the paint is REALLY messed up (rear bumper is chipped and big flakey thing) some rocks from trucks have taken chips out of the paint on the hood.
so how does the maaco thing work with these?
will it just go over it and look like its going over it? or will it look normal.
basically i just want my car to be one color again. and of course a better color than champagne.
