If you can find a used one for 500 .. yeah why not.. but you need to get a warranty on it.. trust me.. this will be my 3rd tranny whne it goes in .. I've rebuiltt he first one.. no garantees on a rebuilt motor.. I spnd .. 400-600 to rebuild it .. and .. it was still fucked after a couple weeks.. take my advice.. if its fucked.. sell it to a rebuild place .. or sell it to someone that wants to rebuild it .. and buy a nice transmission.. take this opportunity to get a type R tranny w/ LSD or a B16 tranny put LSD in it.. something nice like that w/ shorter gears.. that is if your going all motor

A tranny rebuild....well that depends on where you take it. A good tranny shop with many years of experience actually won't charge too much. BUT they most likely won't use Honda parts.

What kind of tranny are you looking to get? I doubt you'll find a used GSR one for $500.

Yes, there are people who can replace only the synchros. Just an FYI, Honda sells it as an entire 3rd gear set.

EDIT: You are not that far from me....PM me and I can try to help you find a used tranny.

and that set tends to get pretty expensive... and once u rip apart the tranny there might be more stuff that might need replacing... i generally tell people to buy another tranny as most of the time it will end up being cheaper

Around here used GSR trannies are going for $2000 dollars. I am pretty sure that that is pretty damn expensive.

So what's a rebuild cost, for parts at least?

For a used tranny plan on about 1000.00. Whoever forks down 2000.00 for a GSR tranny is an idiot.

I was thinking around 700-800 for a GSR tranny. I've seen ITR trannies go for as low as 1,000. The price range for an ITR tranny is around 1,500 if its in good condition, etc. I don't know where this 2k comes from, but if I were from that area i'd definately be paying for an ITR tranny and the ship for that ridiculous cost of a GSR tranny.

i mean, im doing a new act HDSS this week, cause my throwout bearing is shot... and im going 2 put GM syncromesh in it for the time being, just the clutch alone is oging 2 be like 550 to put in...which leaves me with like 500 bucks, and i still need to fix my ignition switch. Theres like no way i could get a tranny and new clutch for like 1 g's is there?

It Depends on what kinda of transmission you want.. if you want a warranty on a GSR tranny .. its hard to find it at 800-900 .. and an OEM clutch its possible not to break 1K .. but if you wanna get a nice setup.. exedy organice and a jdm gsr tranny w/ LSD ..then its going to hit more like 1300-1400
