Default gsr tranny on b16a2

Trying to decide if the gear ratios from a gsr tranny or maybe a type r tranny will be that much better to get a new tranny for my b16a2. I also can not find just the tranny alone for sale online anywhere with an lsd.

Is there anything wrong with your tranny??

If not why not just get a quaife lsd and 4.78 final drive. For the 1200.00 its gonna cost for a new tranny you could do these mods possibly yourself for the same price.

Unless yours is shot, I would just keep it. The gsr tranny is basically the same as what you already have.

It depends on what you use your car for, get an r tranny if you not on the freeway often. I have a gsr it seems like the best type of tranny for what I use my civic for, lsd would be nice, that quaife recommendation sounds like a good route to go.

yea that was a good site with what i was looking for. The type r tranny with lsd was 1800 which would be almost the same as a new final drive and lsd. Hard to say what would be the best way to go.

B16 to GSR tranny is a downgrade if you ask me. Either build your current S4C or get a ITR trans (900+/-) and sell your B16 trans (600 +/-)

Someone has to be selling one. Theres 2 people around NJ selling them

If your **** is a daily driver, I don't recommend getting a shorter final drive unless you really just don't care about gas/revs.

Getting a ITR tranny is worth it in my opinion. You don't spend that much money. You can buy it first, then sell your B16 trans. Only really spending 300ish for a LSD trans

There is an acura guy online selling a brand new type r tranny with lsd for 1900.00 with a year warranty if that is the route you go.

OBX 400.00 no warranty
Quaife 835.00 shipped in sponsors section Lifetime warranty no questions asked.
I did read that the newer obx lsd's have been revamped for the axle syndrome and if you use the field strip faq can be a good lsd for the money. I think I would rather hold out for a Quaife or Kaaz or ATS if money permitted.

Hmotors online 4.78 ITR final drive for like 350.00 plus shipping.
If you could find an itr for 1100.00 I say go for it. sell yours and you have a 500.00 itr tranny roughly.

Also I would go gearspeedinc.com if I could just for the piece of mind it was done right. 2300.00 for a rebuild is a lot of dough but they put out some quality tranny's.

If I drive on highway it is only about 30 miles one way and not very often. I like the short gears and the only way I need to push 100 mph is at the track so the top end doesn't concern me.

appreciate the help there, if i can find that obx lsd i might just settle for that right now because im trying to do a port and polish this summer and thats gonna suck my bank dry. Would the final drive even help that much for an 1/4mile ET?

Sorry to thread-jack but I was wondering if there is anyway to check if the tranny is shot without running it?
