Anyone use Royal Purple synthetic oil?
My friend recently told me about this synthetic motor oil called Royal Purple. Has anyone used this in their cars? Supposedly, it makes more power when used. Can anyone verify this? I don't want to spend $10/quart if I'm not going to notice any power gain.
Thanks

I read an advertisement in a magazine of mine, that when they put it into a stock '88 CRX, it gained like 1.5 horsepower to the wheels. I figured, for $10/quart, its not really worth it. I'm glad I didn't go out and buy any. Don't really feel like doing a $40 oil change.

Off topic, but I understand Royal Purple is the only synthetic that the rotary guys will use in their cars. (Otherwise it's plain dyno oil!) Supposedly it burns clean from the rotors without clogging the cat like other synthetics.
I use royal purple in the winter in my 91 rex. I use the cheaper 5w-30 not the expensive race stuff- it is like 4.95 a quart at Jeg's.(I hate Jeg's) I will say the car feels a little stronger- that's about it. It's not going to win any races.
I have been using it for awhile now and I can't complain. It feels better than the mobil 1 or castrol syntec, the engine seems to run smoother at high rpm's. But if they told you $10 a quart then you have been lied to. I'm only paying like $4.50 at Dynamic Autosports.
I use Royal Purple in my Civic; the cost per quart is roughly $6.00 here (local speedshop). I use the oil because my Civic is mainly a road-course only car, and sees less than 5,000 miles annually ...so I don't mind investing more in an oil change. If the car is your daily-driver, I wouldn't worry about it, Mobil 1 will be fine.

here is an idea so this whole topic and post wasn't just a waste of time. Try Royal Purple for one oil change and if ya don't like it then go back to the other stuff.
