12 second Honda
Okay, the lads over in the Integra forum had a good laugh at my last post, conceived in ignorance I'll admit. Couldn't stop laughing myself when I read the responses. But this is important. Take an affordable Honda/Acura (not a 24valve NSX) that has a 6 or 4 cyl. vtec engine and make it do a 12 second quarter mile, NO nitrous. How much would the modifications cost? What parts would be required?
I am not a Honda expert, but then I'm not pretending to be. I'm looking for an affordable ($3000), streetable Honda combo that can run with an LS1 Vette in the 1/4. Tell me, can it be done?

I'm no expert, but most people suggest a boosted B18b. That engine in a lighter civic should get you close to that. Then again, the turbo would run you about 3k alone for a good setup...
with 3k it's pretty muhc impossible
u have 2 choice though..
going easy way with turbo setup ..in a small car like EF civic or CRX
or H22a stroked to 2.5l...worked engine in the same car..
or in an insight
ahha but that would cost u more than 3K by a lot
ahah
so if u only have 3K$ to get a 12sec car ... just rethink of it longly..or forget ur dream
but either way 12sec is not and easy time to get..
NSX Type S ZERO ( JDM 280hp) is supposed to do 13sec flush
again ..
mmm
CRX with an NSX engine in the back
seen that on a pic recently ..
that would be mid 12 i guess..
maybe low 12 hehe

Well I spent $3K and I am knocking on 12's. Would be there if I drove better. But that $3K was on top of my $20K car..... doh..

Another thing that nobody seems to consider on a car like this is power delivery and suspension. It will cost you at least 2 grand just to get that power to the ground reasonably. A 350 HP monster motor tossed into mom's old Civic is not going to produce impressive times. Impressive one-wheel burnouts maybe...
You could do an LS/VTEC... mine cost me around $2,200 to do, that was for new stock pistons, ARP bolts on the stock rods, pretty much everything else stock. All I did was machine work and replace all the wear-able bits and it came to $2,200. It was in an Integra (1990), making 200 to the wheel. Never ran it on the drag strip but 12's aren't inconceivable.
buy LIP's gsr hahahah
for a economical setup for 12's i'd have to say this
gsr engine in a civic hatch, inline pro headgasket turbo the beast with a revhard or drag, 10-12 psi and then lighten your car a little, throw in some slicks and your set..
3k + 3k + 1k pretty xppensive...

if you have a Type R, get these 4 things:
Toda spec A camshafts
Toda 4-2-1 header
GBR programmed ECU/harness adapter
CTR pistons and bottom end rebalance
Sell your stock R cams
do your own labor.
