Default Sub Troubles

I recently picked up a Sony amp... I know many of you guys don't like Sony, but for the price I paid, and compared to what I had before (nothing) I'm happy to settle...

When I first Installed it it worked Great... Very Happy... I ran 4 guage wires from the battery back to a box in the back where the amp can be plugged into the car and removed very easily.

After a few weeks I noticed it cutting out and coming back every now and then... Eventually it stopped coming back on altogether. No lights and no power.

I tested it and discovered that my ground, which had been fine had failed. I re grounded it and it came back to life... But it's still cutting out regularly...

I have it grounded on one of the bolts that holds the brake lights in place...

Is this a common issue for these subs or am I just not getting a good ground? How would I go about Testing this?

most of the time grounding stuff to bolts isn't good, make your own ground... put a ring terminal on the ground wire and use a self tap in screw and find a better ground, also is your amp set too high? does it go into protection? that could be why it cuts on and off

The place where you grounded, did u sand off the car paint? If you sand it off, it will have a better connection.
