ok well a buddy of mine is lookin at buying a 89 crx std. the guy who owns it says it runs strong but when you shut it off it will not start back up again unless you wait like 15 mins, after 15 mins then it will start up fine. this makes no sence to me but i thought maybe someone might have some kind of an idea. maybe even somthing to try. im open to any and all suggestions. he will probaly end up with the car, the price is right so we need to figure this out. TIA

it may be one of the relays. can't remember which one though. mine wouldn't start if it had been sitting in the hot some for a while. all i had to do was roll down the windows and let it cool down a little. this car may have a more severe case of it. ???

 

the car is not over heating, he said it does it if you start it and let it run for just a few seconds.
i was thinkin maybe one of the relays, you make it sound like its cuz of heat also and i highly doubt that b/c its been like between 40-60 degrees outside.

I used to have this very same problem in my 91 Prelude Si. I think it ended up being a relay. It would do it more randomly though like maybe once a month, and if I let it sit about 10 minutes it would fire back up.

 

i am gonna say start with the fuel relay. can you hear the pump prime when you try and start it?

that i do not know. i wasnt there to see the car when it did this. the day i was there no one was home. if he ends up gettin the car i will def take this into consideration tho.

probably ther main relay, happens alot to crxes. next time it doesn't start, put key to pos 2 you should hear a whirring sound for 2 seconds. if you don't hear it then it is probably the main relay. you can get a new one from honda for 60 bucks. that's what happened to me, especially on hot days, turning car on and off while running errands, etc.

 

well ive heard main relay a few times so thats what will get changed first. i think he is going to pick the car up this friday, so we will prolly mess with it on sat. i will let you all know what we find out
