Default 89 Crx won't "warm" start

My 89 crx si starts perfectly on a cold start. However, if I drive the car say 15 miles, park it for a window of 15-20 minutes and try to start it, it will start, but the rpms will flutter down to 0 until the car dies. This will happen 6-7 times before it either starts and doesn't die or I give it enough gas to keep the fluttering rpms from going to 0. At this point if I keep the car from fluttering down to 0 rpms long enough it will idle just fine. If the car is parked for 30 minutes or more this problem doesn't seem to happen.

I'd like to say that it happens more when the inside of the car is hot because as the temperature has been getting in the 80s recently, it seems to happen more and more.

So far the only thing I did was check the main relay, which I replaced because it was cracked in one spot and I thought that might have been the problem. Also, at least while the car is running I haven't seen any problems with fuel pressure.

I also had a problem, although I don't know if it's related, of feeling the car hesitate a little bit in the gas pedal when the car has been running for a while. As I drove the car longer and as the inside of the car seemed to get hotter (from driving downtown and my 2-60 a/c not working) it exacerbated the problem. This problem might have been fixed by the main relay, but I also fixed my actual a/c at the same time and now my car isn't a sauna all the time.

Any help is much appreciated. Out of frustration I actually took the car to a mechanic who took a look and didn't come up with any answers.

Yep it's a brand new main relay. My first thought was that it was the main relay as well since I had this exact same problem on another crx I use to own. That's why I'm so lost.

Did you also have the same problem with the feeling of the hesitation in the pedal? Driving around today for a while resulted in me getting that hesitation back, even with the a/c on.

hey booz, quick question.

I posted a thread easlier because my integra is doing something that sounds VERY similar. I posted a video in the thread, does it look similar to your problem?
