I didn't think any civics did until I was taking apart my old Hx engine today.

After I pulled the head I noticed it had roller rockers! I wonder if the exhuast rockers would work in an Ex? I am sure the intake rockers won't cuz the Hx VTEC system is different then the Ex's.




I just looked in my helms manual and it shows the Hx having rollers and the Ex not....but the exhuast rocker arms do look swappable...I wonder if it would be worth it?

 

interesting i didnt think a civic HX motor whould have rollers........i hear the S2000 and the new VTEC-i found in the RSX-S have roller rockers as well.............but i'm not 100% sure about that.

 

The Hx engine was supposed to be super fuel efficient....maybe the rollers cut down on friction significantly?

Isn't there an aftermarket company that makes roller rockers for B series engines?

 

Those are not roller rockers. They are just rocker arms.

The Accord SOHC VTEC has roller rockers also.....

 

What year was the HX??? I have a 00 and wonder if I have them.

 

here's the parts diagram from honda of the 96+ HX rockers...its shows the "roller" clearly...

Only if you seriously would like to try and use them. I would like to know if they work...I would think there would be a small power gain...if only you could use the intake rockers too.......

yes. Ferrea makes them, but they deactivate VTEC... they're solid rocker assemblies with rollers.

 

civic, accord, s2k, and RSX afaik have roller rockers.

You cannot swap rocker arms over without the cam.
The cam is designed differently than a one meant for a regular rocker.

 

So does Crane Cams.
