Default Any real gains in axle-back?

I'm thinking of getting a stock axle-back to replace my shiny-tipped bosal.
I really dont want any more attention from the authorities than necessary and prefer a tamer look anyway. Will I be losing that much power? I'll be keeping the DC header and 2.25" piping all the way to the axle-back.

I didn't really think it would make that much of a difference, but then again the stock piping on the axle-back is what, like 1.5" ? I guess that could really choke up the system. Then again, Mugen found than there were minimal gains, if any in the midsection and went straight to the axle-backs. Anybody else have any input on this?

well i also once did my n1 piping with my stock cx axle back...really ddint make much of a difference...but my stock exhaust did end up getting louder since the air flow was at a much higher rate, compared to when i first put it on. BUt as far as power loss...ddint really notice much at all.

Mugen Says "No".

If you ever notice, the accepted systems from way back in the day tend to be axle-back. Mugen didn't find hardly any gain with a full cat-back over an axle back, that's why their system is just that, as well as 5Zigen's. Anyway, I still got a 2.5" system hooked up, and the engine breathes far better, and doesn't hesitate or bog as much. Just go to your local muffler shop, have them hook you up with something like that, and you'll be alright. Mine was loud, I got 2 resonators hooked on, as well as my axle back, and it makes really good power.

I thikn since you have the header and the cat to axle you should be fine. I know a few ppl who have retained stock axle back for the same reasons, and havn't suffered noticeable losses.
