Default Stock Valvetrain GS-R rev limit?

Okay, to settle an argument I'm having with someone... is there anyway you can run 8500+ rpm on stock GS-R valvetrain without damaging anything? I told him anything more than 8300 is bad.

i ran my valvetrain to 10k+ on a misshift, so anything is possible, just not for more than a split second

he must have an chipped ECU, because stop rev limiter won't let that happen, or maybe his cluster is fucked up, or maybe you shouldn't have taken him seriously

he said he had a chipped ECU that had a limiter set at 8800, but also said he had stock valvetrain and cams, and that stock GS-R valvetrains can take up to 9300rpm... and no, I was not taking him seriously.

I reved to 8400 consistantly. No problems before I switched to the skunk2 valve train.

A stock gsr head doesn't really make gains past redline with stock cams... As for whether or not it can handle it... I'm not a professional...

But that kid is a stupid rice boy for even wanting to rev into redline with a stock head...

Speaking from experience, it's not a good idea to put any more stress on the valvetrain past 8200 rpm's. I have a Dinan ECU in my GSR, took it to the 8600 rev limit, and now my car most likely has a bent valve. It's running like total ****, and I'm tearing the head off this week to see what's up.

I did a misshift to 9k on the mugen program/chipped p28.........LUCKILY i didnt bend any valves or screw up my motor! I now set whatever program i use at the track to 8400.......the only mod done internally to my gsr head is a ctr intake cam and cam gears.... I think on a stock gsr valve train, reving to 8200-8400 is ok...not recommended everyday, but anything past that would be just a loss in power..even if its a chipped ecu......BELIEVE ME when i say that...i chip ecu's!
