d16z6 problem
I recently put a z6 in my 89 dx hatch, everything is fine except that when accelerating at low rpm's it studders and hessitates and when you hit the throttle wide open then it sounds like it could be starving for fuel or getting to much fuel, but when you accelerate slowely it is fine. Does anyone hav any ideas?
Are you sure it is not a misfire? I would check plugs/wires/dizzy as well as any codes from the ECU that may indicate injector malfunction (also, did you replace your fuel filter?)

recently changed dizzy, fuel filter, plugs and wires throttle body with new tps sensor and still no progress with tha stutter, the only thing that i can say now is that it is getting worse!! Would fuel pressure be the next thing to check? if so what is tha correct fuel pressure?89 civic DX mpfi swap, d16z6
i guess that no one has ever heard of this!! anyone wannd purchase a 89 civic w/d16z6, primer black 16'slipstreams, custom tweeded door panels with all civic si interior then?? 2500/obo
Ok, let's start here.......I'm assuming you're running obd0, then, are you running the obd0 dizzy?

p.s. send me pics of the car if you're serious about selling it.....I may be interested

Are you getting codes?
Make sure those 2 wires got switched around for the throttle position sensor.
Check your spark plug wires. If they are bad and are shorting then it sounds like a machine gun when you get on the gas.

i am usin tha stock map sensor for tha motor on tha throttle body, tha only codes that i am flashin is 10, 14, intake air temp, EACV
I know the that intake air temp code will make your car run like **** until you fix it......but I don't know if that is your problem.
did you not forget to swap the two wires in the throttle body? remember that on a dpfi the throttle opens in the opposite direction than the mpfi.

man, i've got the same motor and was having the same problem. i also thought that my car was starving for fuel. i bought a high flow fuel pump, changed the filter, and bought a new ecu with an agressive fuel curve. it helped but not much. i finally broke down and took it to the local honda repair man. he put in a new ignitor in the dizzy and it runs like a bat outta hell now! hope that helps, later

Did you remember to do this?
Also, did you clear the codes that you were getting? Remember, you won't know what's going on if you don't fix what's wrong.
Besides that, I assume you already checked that all of your injectors are working as well as getting spark in all of your wires, right?
One other thing that I would suggest is check your timing......did you change the timing belt at the time of the swap? Always always check timing......it may be out of whack.
As far as I know, usually the stutter is b/c of a misfire or a clogged/dirty fuel filter. However you're ruled this out because you've changed these......hmmm
What ECU are you using???
......the ignitor is always a possibility, but I assume you should have no problems b/c you have a new dizzy......

it very well may be the fact that you're using an ECU and distributor not designed for the engine. sure it will run, but the maps are not tuned for that particular engine. also, did you modify the distributor to fit, or did you just rig it up with one bolt, becuase you *HAVE* to modify it so that you can time it correctly.
Thanks for all of ya's help, i appreciate but i fixed tha prob and it was a defective dizzy that i bought new from tha local parts store. it runs like a bat out of hell now, spinnin through 3rd and grabbin 4th
i've got a Y8 in my car and have the same thing but not as bad when i am idle and i gun it...
One more question...Does a FPR affect how rich/lean your car runs? I know it adjusts pressure but what does that do in terms of how your engine runs?
Thanks
Vince
