Default Q on Valentine 1

Do you V1 guys get a laser alert if you touch with your fingertip the rear laser detector, that little black bubble thing under the rear sensor?

I do.

Mine doesn't as far as I know. But very few cops use lasers around here.
I guess mine is old. I've had it for like almost a yr now.

Radar Detectors!!!!! Must be nice!!!!! Too bad those little puppies are illegal up here. Might save me some points and a few hundred bucks!!!!

Our cops have radar detector detectors.....lol!!! If they catch you with one, you get a ticket and they take it from you, prolly give you the speeding ticket too!!!

I have two detectors and my V1 does not do that thing

I haven't tried deliberately messing with the sensor but I can tell you that while driving, if I mess with the volume, the Laser siren usually goes off so it's probably the same thing you're experiencing. I'm used to it now, but it used to freak me out cause I didn't realize it was my doing.

The black bubble is the photo sensor so your V1 will know when it's dark or not and automatically dim the lights. It will not trigger your laser alert..

hmmm, call up V1. Mine was fine then one day it just started going nuts it said 5 Ka bands front, side and back. So i sent it back with a 45 dollar money order since i was out of warranty. they fixed everything back up (looks like the replaced the sensors) and they didnt even charge me! V1 kicks ***.
And i just tried the hand on the sensor thing, mine is fine. but then, mine was just fixed

The New Zealanders/Australians have perfected a detector detector which picks up all known current detectors even V1's and latest Bells...VG2 or no VG2 http://www.radar.co.nz/aust/genrep10.html

To update, I called V research and was told that touching the laser sensor will activate the detector and that is normal.

Yes. Traffic laser is in the IR range, so it'll sometimes be false activated by heat (like from your finger). I saw a few false positive laser signals from driving into the setting desert sun in New Mexico. (?)

The photo sensor (to adjust the brightness of the display) is behind the plastic of the display, next to the band indicator.

I don't think laser has any defense. My PD is using some new units that look like very small miniDV cameras. None of my detecters have seen them. I got my V1 a few months ago, it does not false when touched. But is HAS gone off a few times
