Default Running Side & Top Posts on a battery

I want to hook distribution blocks up to my battery (Optima Yellow Top). Is there any reason I can't keep the normal starter wiring on the top posts and run an additional power and ground line to distribution blocks from the side posts? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I'm wondering if there's any technical reason that it would be a bad ideas (as in, I know it works, but will it lead to something bad in the future)

Thanks

PM

I did this on my very first car. I plugged the audio stuff into the side post. It was fine.
