Does it come out with the engine off? If so, the clutch is not fully disengaging- What yr/model?

I guess a 95 teg according to your sig. IF it comes out with the engine off- try checking out your slave cylinder- did you seat it in the fork properly- does the pedal seem low?

yah its a 95 teg, when i went to reverse it grinded. so i took it out of reverse to 4th and went back to reverse and it went into gear with no problem. No the shifter doesnt come out with the engine off. Its just staying in reverse. everything else seems fine. I even tried rolling forward and backing up and then trying to take it out of reverse but that didnt work either.

you may have a bent shifting fork if your clutch - so it is jammed in reverse?

Check the slave cyl. Also try re-adjusting the clutch pedal. This happened to me awhile ago. I now have a spare tranny to build up

You should NOT have to adjust your clutch pedal- EVER. Unless someone has screwed with it.

who installed the clutch? This happened to me the first time i did it myself, the pressure plate bolts need to be torqued to spec and maybe even a bit more, something like 24 ftlb and add a little locktite because they get loose and you can no longer disengage the clutch. With the engine off you should be able to get it out of gear though...i find it odd that you bent the fork because the fork is really big...When it got stuck for me i had to shove really hard to get it back out of reverse...no damage though. To tighten the flywheel bolts, you don't even need to disassemble the whole tranny, just take the starter off and pull the tranny slightly and you can tighten the bolts through the starter hole.

I would definitely check the clutch pedal adjustment. When I installed my clutch the pedal was WAY off, no play in it at all. If I put the clutch only partially in it would work fine though. Basically you loosen the bolts that hold the adjustment of the clutch switches (buttons that the clutch pushes to allow you to start the car) so they wont interfere with the adjustment. Then loosen the nut that is on the back of the pedal and goes into the master cylinder, and turn the push rod in/out to achieve the desired stroke and pedal height. Pedal height is 164 mm and stroke is between 130-140mm and refers to the amount of pedal travel from the highest point (furthest from the floor) on the pedal from the fully depressed (when actually touching the floor) to fully disengaged (when at rest) positions. When you measure the pedal height make sure that you hold the ruler at a 90 degree angle from the floor and push on it as much as possible (don't just let it rest on the carpet). When you measure the stroke make sure that you keep the ruler steady and make sure that you are measuring from the highest point on the pedal when depressed as well as disengaged. Once the dimensions are achieved tighten the bolt that goes in to the master cylinder and then retighten the clutch switches untill they just touch the clutch pedal. Done. I bet this sounds hella confusing so if you run into any questions just ask.
