What's This Sound Like? (Clutch Related/Problem)
This past Friday night I took my car out and drove around to a friends and just went places through the night. I raced one guy but I didn't get on it all night or anything. I got home, parked my car, then when my mom suggested I pull it in my garage a half an hour later, I went out and moved it in with no problems.
Everything was normal. I will admit though that when I was coming home that there were a couple times when it seemed a little bit tougher to get into gear. Almost like when you go to shift but you miss a gear, except I was shifting slow and it didn't go in the first time.
This past Saturday morning I got up to move my car from my garage into my driveway. When I got in to move it, I went to press in the clutch and start it, but my clutch felt all loose and just fell to the ground when I pressed it. It was really light, and didn't take any effort to press down at all. It just kinda fell in 2/3 of the way, then the little amount remaining to press had some tension like normal.
I saw no signs of my clutch wearing away on me the previous week or days or anything. It was kind of an overnight thing. That's why I was skeptical on it being a worn out clutch but, you never know I guess. I was going to call the dealership since it's still under warranty (00 GS-R), but from what I understand, a clutch (if that's what it is) isn't covered under that anyways.
When the car's off I can put it in gear like normal, but when it's on I can't put it into any of the gears. The clutch is super easy to press in 2/3 of the way also. What does this sound like? Could it be my clutch went out over night?

clutch cable or the pedal mounting bracket under the dash.
EDIT: I thought I was in the EF forum......

Sure doesn't sound like a clutch that's worn out (too thin). Check the clutch slave cylinder so it's pushing against the release fork properly.
Could be springs or something from the hub of the clutch disk, broken & wedged in the pressure plate.
If the release bearing or the pressure plate is broken, that might still be warranty. The clutch disk being worn out (thin) would be a normal-wear thing. A worn-out clutch would begin slipping, which isn't what you're describing. If you don't ask to see the bad parts, they might try to say it's worn out & not covered.
Tell them what you're worried about when you drop it off, before they work on it. If they say a broken PP is still NOT covered by warranty, then you can decide whether to leave it or take it someplace cheaper.

All those things sound exactly like what happened to my car! Part of my clutch disk(I think it's a counterweight) broke off and got stuck between the disk and the Pressure plate.... Try double clutching and if that gets you into gear i am certian that's what it is.. Here's a few pics of what happened to mine
Thanks for the replies all.
Ok so here's what happened. I popped my hood and checked my clutch fluid. The thing was basically empty. I then refilled it, but I'm an idiot and didn't pump the clutch after I did so. Then I got into my car and tried to put it into gear and what not again. It didn't work so I gave up for the day.
Well right now I read this thread, and I went out to my car to try the double clutch idea. Well, basically when the car was on, when I was pumping the clutch, I was doing what I should of done initially when I refilled the clutch fluid. It started to feel like normal again and I drove it around the block.
Needless to say it was the clutch fluid. Thanks for the replies though. I probably wouldn't have tried that if you all didn't post.

have fun

BTW if the fluid is leaking most likely you need to replace the slave cylinder. And generally its a good idea to replace the master at the same time as it is not far behind and if it sends trash down to the new slave cyliner it will end up killing it too!! That a sealed system and if the fluid leaked out something is bad!!!!
