hydro lock question

Default hydro lock question

I have a friend who hydro locked his GS-R. He is sellin the motor cheap. I am just wonderin if you can rebuild a hydro locked motor assuming the block isn't damaged.

as long as there's no holes in the block, should just need some internals replaced

If the block or head warps from the rapid heat change you will need to have it resurfaced which will raise your compression a little, that can be fixed with additional head gasket(s). Besides that, new internals and a complete rebuild and you should be in good shape.

most likely you'll have to replace the rods and pistons. Then have the crank inspected.

I'd take advantage of it if I were you.

Check for holes in the block...my EX motor had several holes when I hydrolocked.

When will people learn???

Hydro locked my motor over a year ago. Still runs great. Many people underestimate how much a honda block can actually take .

Me too, mine didnt lock up but just sucked up water. Changed oil (about 20oz of water was in oil when I changed it), plugs, and compression tested and still hitting vtec daily.
