need tuning advice. just got a wideband and safc (B16T)
so i splurged and bought the new innovative wideband o2 reader, and a safc. would someone whith good tuning experience give me a hand here? im looking to get a good safe air fuel ratio so i should be looking for about 14:1 right? i want to be able to keep running if i take a bad tank of gas or something. or is 14.7:1 better, while still being safe? im new to this so let me know. i will soon be getting an intank pump and some 450cc injectors, but until then this is the setup, so tuners.... advise away!
oh and since i am not yet running the afc hack yet if i just leave all the fuel points at 0 it would run like it did before the afc correct? and when i change the fuel curve in negative incriminents i will be leaning it out right?
i plan to run, read the wideband tune a LITTLE only a few points at a time, then run again, repete. is this a good plan?
here is my setup
94 civix vx
obd1 jdm b16a with lsd tranny
hks turbo manifold
aresearch T28 turbo
6-8 psi, non intercooled
gsr cams
msd 6a ignition
msd ignition pack
p72 ecu
vortec fmu, running pretty rich(help?)
dc sports short shifter
unbolted exhaust at cat(race only)
turbo XS manual boost controller(spiking caused by this?)
greddy type s BOV
shitty suspension
no spare, jack, etc.
im using the fishtank valve method to trick the map sensor
thanks

Conservative tuning is in the 12:1 area (and you better be near that at WOT). 14.7 is stoich, which is optimal burn (gas mileage). You don't want 14.7:1.
I still think you will be running lean, most people run 450s with the afc and subtract fuel before boost so the injectors are simulating the stock ones.
Also, if you are running rich, your fuel pressure may be so high that you are sticking the injectors open. Is that FMU running 12:1?

don't know what disk the fmu has, is there a way i can check? open it up, then what?
you think i should shoot for around 12:1? i have no FPR so they may be sticking open, never thought of that, i will be getting new injectors soon, still running stockers for now. thanks for the input

I think the different discs are different sizes, but I have no clue how to tell you which one. Maybe check the manufacturer's website for a owner's manual electronically.
If you look at tuned guys AFR, you will notice most tuners will shoot for 12:1 at load. Some may consider it a little conservative, but it works pretty well.
I would be careful with the stock injectors for now. At least check on your wideband and make sure you arent running lean. If you get real rich, the injectors probably got stuck open due to the insane amounts of fuel pressure. ~40psi+12*8psi=136psi of fuel pressure assuming 12:1 disc in the FMU.

ya im really not going to do anything too drastic until i get the wideband, i will see what it reads, and report in here! lol. i hope to pick up the injectors today, if not then tomarrow. im still running stock fuel pump by the way, thats also on the list.
