They just run them according to the order of the qualifiers. Depending on what tree they use...1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5, etc. Some evnts use different trees depending on if its a full field

and in most cases the first round will run the fastest qualifier against the slowest and the 1 and 2 qualifiers will be in opposite trees.
