Default Tranny tech questions differential swapping and instals

I need to ask the stupid question first
What differentials fit a Type R 97- Tranny I know lsd vs open

I need to know if the diff needs to be shimned when putting the ring gear on or bearings.

Do you have an ITR and want to find another LSD? Anything out of a B-series hydraulic transmission should work. Use the bearings that are made for the particular transmission, not the ones that are made for the diff. Ex: Don't buy ITR bearings if you're putting an ITR diff into a S4C (99 Si) box. I learned the hard way on that one

Yes, every time you change the diff/bearings it much be shimmed. It's not too bad, just waiting for the shims to be ordered is a pain. Most dealerships can get them within a day or two though.
