Ask me in a week I'll be done with my custom turbo project on my auto 6gen. I added a tranny cooler and later on will get a level ten upgrade.

i've heard accord auto tranny's are good for up to 250hp, a tranny cooler wouldnt be a bad investment though. Unless you're planning on putting down some crazy numbers i think your tranny should be able to handle it. good luck with the project.

The 98-2000 models(and possibly the 2001)auto tranny have been known fail prematurely, especially the v6 version(even without turbo). I haven't heard as many failures with the 4 cyl auto, but maybe because auto buyers generally don't turbo their accords, and perhaps due to the fact that they only put down 120-130 whp, vs the v6's 169 whp. The TL and CL autos also have these issues.

The tranny failure issue is supposed to have been addressed in the 2002 model, though it would take pioneers to put boosters on their 02's to find out.

Just curious, how much would a level ten torque converter upgrade cost?

I have also heard that the 6G a/t's are pretty flakey, but I don't know for sure. Add a tranny cooler and keep it maintained and you shouldn't have a problem, up to probably around 240-250 hp.

Well, the 6th gen Accord tranny isn't as weak as many people say. I've been running my turbo for over 3 years with my auto tranny. It slips a little when it's cold, but other than that, it's still good. And I have a 99 Accord Turbo Coupe.

How much to get it installed?

Do we really need a torque converter in a 250hp turboed auto accord?

I had a local shop quote me a price of 1600 for everything. That includes installing the level ten PTS kit and a custom torque converter.
