Default LS/VTEC near completion

Alright guys, I've got the B16 head and the B18B/A block I can pick either one. On the point of honing the sleeves. Should a machine shop do this or can anyone with a hone tool do it? Then On pistons. So far I'm looking at JDM ITR pistons stock bore. That should be 11.0 : 1 right? well I thought that would be good for pump gas on 93 I was reading around and heard some of you where running on CTR pistons for a crazy compression of 12.4 : 1 !?!!??! WTF can 93 handle such wild compression?? this is my daily driver btw, so I'm crossed between the CTR and the JDM ITR!!!! I'm soo close!!!!

you can hone it yourself just get the brush looking dingle berry thingie and do a cross hatch pattern , make sure its 60º. and for your daily driver i wouldnet got CTR... i would go JDM ITR...

When honing it, with a honing tool. When do you know to stop? How ruff does it need to be?

Jeff I have a friend at a machine shop in Crestview. I think they charge like 10-15 per hole to hone.

bah, buy the tool for 30 bucks. It takes ten minutes and a chimp with a power drill could do it. takes about 20 - 30 seconds per cylinder. Just make sure to pull it out fast when its done so the stones don't ruin you crosshatch on the way up. Pulse up and down like you're sawing something while the drill is spinning super fast then BAM! just pull the thing right out fast.

ctr= in my opinion too high cr on pump gas

pr3=11.3
p30=11.5

this pump gas issue depends where you live.
all things are possible and can be reliable with a careful driver/builder

im proof! (although i do live where i am surrounded by 93)

also you can hone your self, although i prefer to use an automatic hone machine because im a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to things like that. i would rather pay a bit and take it to a machine shop with a good rep than do it my self.
