Default Is this idle normal for a 98 4cyl ?

Alright heres my question for you 6th gen owners, or anybody else that may know.

When my car has been fully warmed up. And if I go to turn it off and on again occasionally the idle will drop down belowe the normal idle point of 800 rpm and then bounce back up. It never stalls or anythng but i'm just curious to know if all you other 6th gen owners experience the same thing ?

So let me know what you other guys experience when you start ur cars up ?

I really wanna figure out if this si normal or not ....

Thanks

Yeah but what im wondering is if its normal for it to bounce around a bit when you first start the car up when the engine is warm ?

When i start up my car when its warm it drops to around 400 and then bounces back to teh normal idle.

So do u experience this too ?

Yes that happens almost every time I start my 98 5 speed. It's normal. After it is warmed up >5 minutes it should stay at around 800 rpm in nuetral.

Sticky IAC valve? Our '98 4cyl automatic doesn't do that.

My mom's got a 98 v-6 and it does the same thing, never actually stalled but drops pretty low then back up to where it should be. My 93 doesn't do that though.

sounds like -something- (what, would be hard to say right off)...is making the ECU idle hunt..... not sure what to tell you other than to just make sure all the mantinance is up to date, I don't think it's really a big deal though.

Is it as simple as your AC compressor coming on and off?

Yeah no its nto the ac coming on and off, id notice that. I was told its just the computer adjusting itself, and that its normal. So i am gonna guess it is. And yeah my maintainance is up to date.

Ill keep an eye on it and if i find out what it actually is ill post again.

thanks for the comments guys/(any gals)

mine was doing that for a while, then it stopped doing it.

I guess that isn't too helpful except to let you know that you're not the only one.
