Default LS/Vtec v/s stroker kit (Crower, Spoon)

I haven't seen much of this on this site, so I will ask what everyone is dying to know. What are the advantages & disadvantages of the aftermarket stroker kits available and how do they compare to a B16 head on an LS or B20 block. Obviously there are variables here, but you pros give me some input. I know that there is the whole rod/stroke ratio going on, but how much affect does that really have on power and longevity. I am considering this for my 99 Si.
