Though most members here when I asked what was the problem they were saying sway bar or the cat is causing it when he took it off he saw it was, "nope, if you look at the first bend on the exhaust from the cat back, you'll see two marks on it. It was hitting the underbody of the car" So now what can he do to fix it.....

My gf's car makes the same banging sound when it rains. It started doing it when i put the race header on.

The angle of teh testpipe pushes the exhaust up towards the bottom of the car. What i cant figure out is why it only does it when it rains?? i have never heard of that phenomenon beforeand its pissin me off. I dont know what you can do to stop the clanging. It doesnt hurt anything but it really sucks.

my car does the same and it's all stock. usually only when i got through a big puddle or something though. i kinda figured large amount of splashing water from a puddle might be enough to move either the heat shield or even the exhaust hanger. when i bring my car in to get my synchro fixed, i'm going to point that out to them as well, but i have a feeling it's not gonna matter. to me, it's just kinda weird, but not a big deal.

Interesting...I get the same problem but itson my 91 teg with thermal exhaust abd catco cat. The banging coume from the cat area. Only happens when it rains and the road is really wet. I thought it might be water getting into the heatshields on the cat and boiling off, but Im really not sure what it is.

if yer banging sound is anything like the dc5 banging, its not from any heatshield, and its not from boiling off. Its the ******* exhaust, at the first bend, banging off the bottom of the car. Its horrible sounding, you can see from the marks on teh underbody.
