catilitic converter flew off while driving?

Default catilitic converter flew off while driving?

hey guys..you know i just went to get some groceries,driving down the street i hear this scraping,next thing i know,the cat shield flies off,i turned around and got it....my exhaust has a hole in it anyway so i didnt hear a sound diffrence...how important is this?

If you dont have emissions in your state and you dont mind polluting a hole in your exhaust isnt a big deal, but if it is rusted to the point where more things are going to fall off you might want to fix it before you damage something on your car or someone following you. did the whole cat fall off or just the aluminium shield on the bottom?

Jersey = emissions fiends.

If it was just the shield then whatever... but why would not want to fix an exhaust leak? Kills your low-end torque and sounds like a giant farting machine is under your car.
