Default d16z6 performing like crap.

It started about 2 weeks ago. The entire performance of the engine seems to have mysteriously decreased. I changed the plugs with no effect. It feels like when I push on the gas the revs don't go up nearly as fast or smoothly as they used to. And there is a slight hesitation between when I push the gas and the rpm rise. Plus it bogs like a bitch when I try to get it in 1st and 2nd gear. Please help, I'm not sure how to describe it better, sorry guys.

You say rpm rise, do you mean rpm rise but no acceleration....if you're still on the stock clutch, a new clutch is calling on you. Because rpm rise and no acceleration means your clutch is slipping!!

no no, the clutch is fine, it's definitely the engine. it's sota like the same effect as driving with the a/c on. but the a/c s definitely off.

welcome to world of hondas . Im thinking it has something do with your fuel system it could mean a lot things.
1. fuel filter might be clogged up
2. fuel injectors are dirty
3. gas regulator
4. sensor
solution: your best bet is to get a computer check and a mechanic can tell u what wrong.

either the dist. moved, timing belt skipped a tooth, or the rotor inside the dist. is loose and has shifted.

I've also had similar problems with my D16Z6.

My car runs smooth and takes off really fast on the startup. But after a about 5 mins after it has been running, it seems to run weaker and weaker and does not take off as fast.

Actually, that worked for my old D15B7 like you wouldn't believe. I just got the valves adjusted on my D16Z6 and it improved get-up and a few horses on the butt dyno.
