Lowering Spring Install Question???
I have just put a set of Suspenstion Techniques SpeedTech's in my 93 SRV. I cut the front bump stops in half. It looks as though the car is higher in the front than in the rear. Do I need to completly eliminate the front bump stops??
The bump stops do not have anything to do with how low your car is. The bump stops prevent your shocks from bottoming out. Almost every car looks lower in the back than in the front with lowering springs. The reason is because the wheel well is cut differently in the rear which gives an appearence of the car being lower in the back when it is actually even throughout.
Thanks for the info guys. I am not much of a prelude guy...I only know civics. As for my comment about the bump stops. All that I was thinking is that because the aftermarket spring is shorter than the OEM one, I figured that the spring was almost all the way compressed leaving no room for travel up and down as the bump stop is in the way. I understand what bump stops do, I just thought perhaps it is common that when doing a lower job on a 92-96 prelude that you eliminate them. As for the comment about putting the rear springs in the front, that has got to be the gayest thing I have ever heard. The wpring rates are completly different and the rears are not designed for the front. Bad advice, but thanks anyways.
