No there not, the transmissions are made no different. Only the clutch actuators are different. You can't put a hydro transmission in an ED chassis anyways, well not easily.

Yes you can put a B serries hydro tranny in a 4th gen Civic. Hasport makes a kit.
Its harder to find good cable trannies. From what I've heard parts are no longer available for rebuilds on them.... Don't quote me on that. If you can, get a hydro tranny being that parts are readily available.
