Default tire question

hey guys, i searched and found out some info on tires already... it seems you guys recommend the Dunlop D60A2 tires, but at tirerack that is only available for non-GSR integras.... this also goes for the SP Sport A2.......

i've also heard about the kumho 712s....... but i've heard mixed responses like "they suck" "very noisy" and stuff like that...... can you guys give me your opinions on tires speciiically for the GSR?? how are dunlop W-10s? my interest is toward tires that are quiet while driving, handle well dry and wet, last a pretty decent amount of time, and are as cheap as possible.... thanks!

Okay, I'm one of the people that said that the Kumho 712s suck. After a while of breaking them in (300 miles), they seem to stick a lot better. I'm starting to like them, actually. The only thing that's not good about them is their soft sidewall. Hard turning will make them squeel like pigs, too.

If you want the best tire for the buck, the 712s are the ones to get.

I was also looking at the Bridgestone Potenza RE730s. They cost about $30 more than the Kumhos, but they stick better and have a harder sidewall. They are my next tires.

my friend 420tegls has the 712's on his car and he loves em they are actually pretty quiet cept when u take a turn kinda hot then the softsidewall's come into play and squeal like a pig, but i believe that these tires are one of the best bang for the buck tire.

I had the W-10's on my LS and liked them, I thought that they worked good in both wet and dry conditons. I also did some auto-x and track days with them. They seemed to be wearing well, right up when my car was stolen and they were fairly quiet on the highway. I plan on trying the 712 when I get new tires for my current ride.

Why would the tires vary between trim lines if all the Integra's (sans Type-R) use 195/55-15 as the stock size? Just curious...

Older non-vtec models came with 185/65-14 rubber. ITRs use 195/55-15 also.

I've driven on the Kumhos in my friend's Maxima, and another's 'teg.

Right now I'm almost through on my second set of RE730s on my 'teg.

The Kumhos lose grip earlier than the Potenzas. While cornering, it's easier to break out the Kumhos. I like the grip the 730s give me at the limit. If you've got the budget, I'd recommend the Potenzas.

Whatever you do, just don't get the Nitto 450's. They are cheap for a very good reason.

Try search... here's what I said

1. 712 - good daily driver w/ GOOD wet traction
2. P-zero - awesome grip w/ fair wet traction
3. RE010 - awesome grip, not so good wet traction
4. S-02 - equivalent grip to #2 and #3. Don't know about wet-traction
5. RE730 - better than 712's if you want to spend extra $20 per tire

IMHO, 712's are more than enough for daily driving with some high speed corners. Just don't use it at a competition event.

Has anyone bought any kumho's in the last month or so? Discount ordered me some 205/50/z15's and they've been back ordered for like 2 weeks! Supposedly they're coming straight from Korea. I cant complain too much though cuz they're free from a warranty type deal. They can get me Yoko AVS i's in a week, but I'll probably just wait for the kumho's.

LegendLS95-I have heard that the RE-730 start to get louder and louder as you rack up the miles, and after 8-10k they, according to some people, get really loud. In your own experience can you confirm or deny this? Thanks.

Nugget - I'm not really answering your question about the 730's, but my bfg comps got REALLY loud right at 10k. I'm not sure what would cause this because there's still 2/3 of the tread left. But 85-90mph on a concrete freeway is almost unbearable, you've got to yell to your passengers, and thats with the stereo off!

Dunlop D16A2s are awesome, but they wear out really fast, especially if you drive them hard.

I have the Kumho Ecsta Supra tires, and I've been pretty happy with them, considering how they were something like 70 dollars per tire. And yes, they are VERY noisy. Which doesn't make too much a difference if your rear seats/trunk is gone

FWIW- Lovin' my Kumhos. I've got the 195/50 - 15's installed on my Civic on GSR rims. Great everyday tire. Only slightly noisy on most freeways. Spent yesterday tearing rubber off them at the track, and they just sucked it up. Squealing everywhere, but totally predictable and fun!

the W-10's are pretty cheap.. they gripped pretty well but they didn't seem to last long enough to make me want to buy them again. And you guys hear about the BFGoodrich offer? free g-tech pro with the purchase of 4 tires

I like my 712's okay. They dont grip near as well as my shaved Sumitomos did, but they also last alot longer.

I bought my 712's last Friday. I have about 500 miles on them. They are much quieter than the POS Falkens I had. They stick reasonably well. Definately a good daily driver tire.
