major inside tire wear on re010's
Anyone else experience this? Would inside wear indicate too high tire pressure? I have about 9-10k on the tires. street use, about 6 autox, and 1 track event. they are not quite down to the wear marks, almost though. I just think its odd how much the inside edge wore compared to the rest of the tire. the suspension is stock and the i always kept the tire pressure at 35f/33r and at the autox and track events i ran 38-40f/35-37r. i am going to order new tires very soon. re730's or s03's? 205/50 or 195/55?
Rough roads.Hitting speed bumps etc.. can also effect alignment. If you have stock suspension I doubt it is camber.Gees you have 9-10k on re010's?You must drive really conservitive on the street I got like 3 autocrosses and 8k out of mine.
welcome to the club..... all my tires wear prematurely on the insides, so it's more than likly not your alignment. suggest you flip your RE's on the rims, prolong their life a bit. otherwise, slow down, and don't rip the **** out of them all the time, i know it's hard to do tho..

btw, 9-10k is about their life... even says so on your window sticker.

you can't touch camber much, alignment or not. on a stock suspension setup that is.
You didn't mention (or I missed it) if this was happening on every corner or not? I run close to 2 degrees negative camber up front and 1 degree in back and have even wear...

Get an alignment at a place that knows what they're doing.
No, if the tire pressure were too high, the center of the tread would be wearing faster than both edges.

I would not recommend flipping the tires on the rims as D suggested. Sorry D. First, the tires are directional. Secondly, when you run radial tires in the opposite direction, it will stretch the cords inside the tire in a not so good way. This causes cord seperation and blowouts. This is why when you rotate the tires on a car with radial tires, you only rotate them front to back and not side to side.
Side to side off "of the wheel" maybe? That is what I did after my first track event.
I got 15K out of my set.
When I had my alignment done.... I sat in the car (2/3 tank of gas) and had them set the toe to the outer limits of the factory spec.

How do they adjust the camber? With a hammer?
BTW... If you use your tires on the track it's useless to flip the tires, because the outside edge will be worn also. My tires are worn at the inside and the outside due to track days and my tire pressure was OK (a bit higher pressure than stock).

With threaded camber kits.... and a hammer
replaces the upper-rear suspension mounting point..
replaces the inner-front (2) upper mounting points.

I flipped mine (off wheel) because the outside tread blocks were torn off. The inside blocks were just fine on my set.

Thanks for all the info guys. I would go with 195/55 again, but i don't think re730's or s03's come in that size. anyone else not like the 205/50 size?
I have no real problems with the 205/50. But I am noticing some rubbing on my suspension (front and rear). I autocross ALOT, so that may be the issue. But for regular street driving you should have no problems with 205/50's.
If there is a lot of inside wear, you might have excessive toe-out. Get the car re-aligned as there shouldn't be a huge difference unless you track those tires with a stock suspension and even then the wear would be on the outside.

my R has the same problem, mine is a 98 and the alignment has problem right out from japan, it took me three sets of tires to realize the problem, thought that was meant to tune like that in the R, so serious that the outside looks brand new but inside was worn to the belts, and serious fish tail ling on the snow at any speed with arctic pilots on all four wheels. ... i think u must have the same problem as mine.
just my bad luck picking up the wrong copy.
