Type R's getting stolen...
Just had an idea, after reading about all these r's getting stolen it makes you wonder how and where they find out where you live, and or what kind of parts you have in them. Maybe these thieves look on this board and see whateveryone says about there cars, and see's were people live.. (Hey, you never know) maybe an idea to lock this board and only be viewable by registered people. Not sure what to say.. just an idea and my opinion. All these r's getting stolen is getting ridiculous.
Nah, these guys are mostly illiterate ***** that dont even own a computer. They're just pro car thiefs that have been at it for years (following changing trends). Thats all. OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND!!! Trust me, these guys are NOT tracking down the cars via the web. It's mainly cars that are parked in vulnerable spots. Track events are also a big venue for these guys. All they need is your plate # and 9 times out of 10 they can track down the car if it's left at the registered address. My cars BTW are hidden deep in a dungeoun!!! **** THIEVES! The crooks in my area know I'll pull a trigger without hesitation, so they kinda just smile and wave when they see me. I know who's a lowlife and who isn't!!!
Hey H Pimp some member named integD has your AVATAR!
Oh and since I want to stay on topic leaving your R unattended without locked doors or an alarm is kinda foolish. I mean I used to do it way upstate in the woods "plus we had a long driveway and lots of guns." but, recently with all these troubles It's just not worth it. I especially don't want to lose mine since it is my 2nd R and it'll be hard as Hell to get another new one.
When I lived in Hartford it was safer, Hell safer still is in NH by my parents house but thats almost 5 hours away.
Good luck all and keep an eye on your cars,
A.

About people getting where you live from your license plate, can't you register the car to a PO box or something? I have my car registered to my parents house which is about 100 mile from where I live. So if they get the plate number and find the address, it is no where near where I keep my car.

Or, if its organized, who knows. There could be someone at DMV, or someone at a Acura dealer. Who knows.
My bet is its organized. The bastards are probably making 15K per car. Not bad for a nights work.
All I know, is that I sleep light, and I'm buying a gun.
I don't think they are. I know that VW uses the immobilizer and alot of their cars are ripped apart but not stolen. As to the key with chips, I don't think so. Maybe laser cut keys, but ITR's don't have laser cut keys
These guys are pro's and they CAN defeat the immobilizer. It's childs play to them. Alarms, club, autolock, powerlock, etc. ALL JUST A BIG ******* JOKE!!!
i'd say dont post pictures of your ride on this board any major honda message board in this case, do not give out info as to what mods you have.. when at meets in large groups of people you dont know dont pop your hood and floss your ****.. cause you are asking for it.. if someone wants to race you.. tell him to fawk off.. j/k.. i simply say the car just looks nice its slower then my garndmas tercel.. thats to those that come up to you, like this one retard came up to me at work, a damn janitor.. as i'm exiting my car he goes nice car.. so i kindly reply "thanks" as i'm late to work as usual.. then he goes "i bet its fast" i reply with a answer above.. he still presists.. its gotta be fast.. and says he has a "homeboy" that would run me..
i hardly give a fawk about him and his homeboy probably steal cars who the hell knows.. i'm not trying to be rude or anything but i have had this happen to me before.. and it just doesnt sound like good news.. i already dont like it that he noticed my car on the damn lot! lets hope it doesnt get stole by his fellow "homeboy".. i.e. like a year ago i entered my hatchback at a show.. had a gsr motor and some mods.. rnrs, cf hood, jdm headlamps, seats stripped interior etc.. just plain clean.. at the end of the show this one retard comes up starts asking questions as to what i have.. answers were given not much bla-bla-bla.. his very 2nd question in front of like 10 people was "where do you live" asking in excitement. A fight almost broke out after that as i tried to point out a direction of where i live with my fist right in between his thief eyes hahahhahaah
anyhow, sorry for making this post into a letter but the bottom line is dont talk about your ****.. my opinion..

heres a funny but true story. One of my cousins live in santa monica and told me about this that happened to someone he knew.
this guy had a brand new S2000, parked right next to the beach. He had a good alarm system, chip, and a steering lock bar. when the guy got back to his car he found his car parked facing forward (opposite direction as it was parked) with the steering lock back on etc.. and also found a note on his steering wheel. the note said "All this security stuff is a joke, have a nice day ^_^ "
hes car could have been easly jacked, but the guy just did it for a laugh i suppose. thats pretty nuts.. hehe just thought i would share the story with everyone.

Yeah, I would like to see him try again.. This time he will walk away crippled for life. People like that deserve to have the smack put down on their ****..
My car spends it's weekdays locked in a garage with the very best alarm - a 120lb Great Pyranese.
Plus there's always someone home. My roomate works nights.

My advice: If you have a garage put your car in there. If you have to park it outside have it underneath a light.
I definitely feel this is an organized ring. Don't discount that thieves don't use the net to find their victims.
That S2000 story blows my mind..Its funny but its not..damn..
I wonder what the law is if you find someone trying to jack your car, or is in the process of jacking your car and you beat his *** to a bloody pulp. Will you get charged?? hmm

Well Yellow Type R hauling down a street is very noticeable and like Yoshi said.. there are look outs... or passer byers. If they want it they'll get it. 99% i say that they rolled my baby away. Because i had a fuel cut off after 30 sec. and club, lojack, kill switch, and alarm and not a peep from my baby...
THOSE F@#KERS...

THOSE F@#KERS...
I asked my 'car guy' to put a fuel cut off in my ITR and he said " Very bad idea" ...blah, blah, blah...something about it tripping accidentally and the fuel mixture getting lean and blowing the engine...does this sound right...or did he just have a hot date and couldn't be bothered?
As it stands now I just put in an aftermarket alarm, plus that whole key chip business...is that enough or should I let Fang (my 187lb Rottweiler) sleep in it overnight?
Oh yeah and up here in Canada, we can't buy guns at the 7/11 so we have to use harsh language if we catch anyone trying to jack our ride...SO WATCHOUT!!!!

The fuel cutoffs I've seen are mechanical ones that you turn with a key. The valve is either open or closed. If it restricted fuel, I guess that would make it lean, although wouldn't the check engine light come on if it was too lean?
You alarm is likely worthless by itself. Disable door locks, get a hood lock, a battery backup for the alarm, and make sure your alarm isn't mounted in a common place like under a seat or under the dash, and make sure your alarm doesn't have a valet switch.

the car would run fine with a kill switch.. bunch of BS.. but you never know it might happen.. depends who puts it in for you.. as for the cars beings stolen all you can do is pray that you run into an ordinary stereo thief.. that all he's looking for is a nice headunit..
