Default 6th gen amber light - how do I get rid of that amber strip?

I already have the fake JDM black housing. The plastic on it is okay during the day but crappy at night.

I was thinking of swapping back my stock, but the headlight is sealed with JB weld type material. I know people have done it, but how do I get rid of that amber strip?

You take a heat gun and soften the rubber material on the back and then pry it free with flat head screwdrivers. After the housing is seperated the amber strip will just fall out.

use the oven, more even heat for all the edge of the headlight.
the orange stripe is hold down by a screw

my grandma was pissed when i did mine, make sure you dont leave any silicone or plastic piece in the oven, it WILL smell like crap everytime you use it for the next ten year

Thanks, guys. I'll try that tonight!

By the way, what is that rubber stuff? What would you recommend I use to put it back together?

buy some silicone sealant from your local auto parts store to reseal it. also, when you "glue" to the headlight assembly back together with the silicone sealant, you need to apply some pressure (using a clamp or something of the sort) to the 2 pieces. otherwise the clear lens will stick out a little more than it should.

Thanks guys!

BTW, the oven trick worked. I was so excited when I put back together.

I looked the lens. It had my fingerprints all over it.

Biaaaaaaatchhhhh!

Guess I' just have to do it all over again. LMAO!
