Default Question about running a lower fuel pressure with my set up.

Here's what I have.

B16A, Mugen p28, Turbo Eclipse fuel pump(more then a stock B18C), and B&M adjustable FPR.

Now I currently have my Fuel Pressure(fp) set at 32psi at idle. This runs much smoother then it did when I was running 38psi(stock fp). The car sputtered and spit black smoke almost all the time. Well, with the fp settings currebtly, the car feels pretty good, and much smoother. However, here is my problem. I am still spitting out black smoke once I cross over into highcam operations. I know with a little tuning I could drop the fp down to eliminate all the black smoke in vtec, BUT would this cause my car to run too lean at idle or pre highcam?

Also, will more power be recogized if I eliminate all the smoke, or will it run slightly better a tad bit richer?

Any help would be appreciated.

Higher fuel pressure and leaning out with an AFC is MUCH better then just turning down the fuel pressure to cure your "pig rich" woes. You don't want the injectors trickleing like faucets. The higher pressure causes for better fuel atomization. It would just be a band-aid keep turning the pressure down.

Thanks. I'll just look for a leaner program(thinking the J's racing chip) until I get enough $ saved up for hondata.

buy a vafc and get tuned. the mugen program runs like that rich. even if you used a autometer a/f guage to tune that point of rpm its still better than nothing. Atleast thats what I did.

I've considered that, but for the price, I might as well buy a Hondata S200 system. For right now, I'm going to just buy a leaner program, either J's racing or the B16A superchips prggy, and then play with the FP a little.

Thanks for the advice guys. Goes to show why this is the BEST forum on H-T.
