Default PIAA Super-White's

I bought PIAA Super=White's for both my low and high beams and my side markers. The light is nice and clean, brighter than stock. The problem is that when I look at it the side markers look almost bluish while the normal headlights don't match in the color. They don't really look white when looking at them, slightly yellowish, though when shining them on my garage they give off a whitish light.

Anyhow, I want the color to look uniform from the side markers to the headlights, and right now I don't have that. Should I have gone with Super-Blue's for the headlights?

Those of you with PIAA's let me know your experiences with them. Maybe I should clean out my headlight casing first...

I went through so many pairs of Piaa's in my lifetime of owning cars so far. I had them on my teg, then my bimmer, and then on my girl's car. In my opnion, they are not worth it that much. They had a tendency to blow-out after a while. My friend who works at a place the sells them has them all over his Pathfinder but that's because they are a distributor so he gets them cheaper. I now run Slyvina Cool blue's on my boy's prelude and my gf's old and new civic. A helpful hint if you want to get more light out on the road, Modify the highbeam bulbs to fit the lowbeam sockets. I assume from your avatar that that is your civic correct? In that case it should be fine as I did that on my gf's 91 civic and my boy's 92 lude, my teg and bimmer.

Here's how you do it. Take a 9006(lowbeam) and 9005(highbeam) bulb and compare the back of them. You'll notice that the 9005 has 2 tabs in the socket itself that the 9006 does not. Get rid of them, you can scrape them off with a blade or something, tey this on a cheap set or blown set first to get the hang of it. Next, you need to compare the tabs that hold in the the bulb assembly in place, you'll that the 9005's are slightly bigger or wider than the 9006, just shave it down a bit till the bulb fits. Plug in and you'll be gettin more light out on the road.

To give you an example, on my bimmer, when i was running hiper Xenon 9005 bulbs, I came to a toll. The attendent told me that my high beams were on and that he saw me coming from around the turn. Obviously I did not have the high's on but that can tell you how much brighter the light will be. Good luck and enjoy. Also, I recommend that you switch to the Slvinia when the Piaa's blow, it's just not worth the price to replace them all the time.

And your Piaa's are not gonna be white, they are too blue tinted. You need to get like Polarg hybrid bulbs or something.

I guess my experience is the exact opposite of above...

I got PIAA superwhites for high/low and sides...have had them for a good three years. There are/were several different versions available at the time. I got the true white ones...not even a tint of blue. The sides look blue in the daylight but the light output is white enough. I recently switched to white LEDs on the corners and they work even better.

While I like them, the PIAAS are damn expensive. Just not worth it.
In the same vein, I like the Sylvania Silverstars and will probably go with those when these eventually burn out because they are half as much. Or save some pennies and get the real HID.

hmm, I would totally agree that PIAA's are overpriced. I will not be buying them again. But, for now, they'll do I suppose. It's still frustrating not to have a uniform color from the sidemarkers to the headlight. The headlights look more yellowish than the white/blue light of the sidemarkers.

All the bulbs were SuperWhites... Grrrr...

Any more experiences with PIAA's?

I have run a bunch of different bulbs and found that the PIAA Super Whites are the brightest.
They are now the only bulbs I will run period! Ill spend the extra to get more usable light!

I recently had them in my civic...after 6 months they blew out(which caused me to get a ticket)...
I went with Sylvania Silver Stars (they are road legal)...much brighter than stock but not annoying to other drivers

That's what I was trying to tell you...there are two(or more) different corner lights sold by PIAA. The first pair the shop sold me was more blue then the headlights but they were labeled slightly different than the headlights...something like Superwhite Platinum vs Superwhite HID. I eventually got the right corners and they matched pretty well.

I had a pair of superwhites in my car for over a year, and the guy before me for over a year before that... very happy with the light output.
compared with the number of people I see having problems with the cheap brands every month or two, I would stick with piaa. then again, I'm going hid, so it doesn't matter anymore.
