Default burnt ignition coil

i did a search already. i have a jdm b16 and the other day while driving my car shut off. i pulled over and when i pulled the dist cap off, the ignition coil was physically melted. my speedo isnt hooked up so ive been running w/o vtec for a while now. i cant think of what burnt it like that but i replaced it w/ another and it works fine now. i appreciate any responses.

They burn out, just happens with wear. Replace it and if it happens again, then look into it more.

yeah but ive never heard of them physically burn up like that. i mean i know they go bad, but usually they just... go bad, not char the inside of my dist.

hey I have some problems that I'm not sure of, maybe it can be a ingtion coil too...
well heres what is happening.
I own a first gen B16A
normaly my car will engage v-tec at 5500
but for some reason it now starts at 5000rpm and also I feels like I've lost so much power that I just sit there making noises for nothing.
also at times my car studders during v-tec zone
what can this be? coils??
I've replace my coils a year ago. but I've hear many stories about B16's being notorious with its distribltor.
also 2 weeks before any of this occured, I've added in some fuel injector cleaner, can that be the cause?? I've just replaced the fuel filter too, nothing change.
car still makes a weird vacum noise when I accelerate
thanks

Hey can you tell me how to replace the ignition coil? I have a 1990 Integra and I just purchased an OEM coil. However when I open up my distributor and undo the screws for the coil ... I can't get to the 2 screws at the back of the cap.

Must I remove the rotor and full out the entire unit?

Is there anything special I need to watch out for?
