How do you fix the oil dip stick tube leak without JB welding it? After a post I saw I took a look at it, and I can't believe how much oil is caked around it. I did a search but couldn't find the post. Anyway I lose a full quart of oil more or less every 3,000 miles. Almost every time I get on the R hard I smell oil burning, as if it was burning of the header. I get a little oil on the header every time I change my oil so I know the smell. I now believe this is the source of my problem, but I don't want to JB weld it because it's going to be a bitch if I ever have to remove the dip stick tube. Do I just pull on it till it comes out and change the rubber plug around it, is there a screw, do I turn it or what? I need to break down and by a helms manual, but untill then can someone post a how to? Thank you!
you can use honda-bond instead of JB weld. I did that at first and it stayed tight. Unfortunately, I noticed I put the tube in a little crooked and it was rubbing against the header (me = stoopid) and i was able to pull it out. then I JB welded it but I have no doubt honda bond would have prevented it from leaking as well
I just fix mine. I tried hondabond at the first time but it came lose again after few weeks, I guess the surface was not clean enough or I didn't let the HB dry before I drive the car.
So....this time time I bend the tube just a little before I put it back to the block (w/ hondabond). Let the car sit for almost 2 days before driving it.....so far 2 weeks has gone, still no leak and the tube doesn't move either.

JB Quick seems to have fixed my t00b, 3 days and counting.

I used HondaBond and it didn't work. JBWeld lasted me a couple track events, but come summer 100 degree weather it cracked and started leaking again (albeit more slowly than before). I'm on my second round of JBWeld and it's holding up good so far with a couple high-temperature track days.

I cleaned it all up, (washed the engine bay with simple green, brushed the tube and cleaned all the oil off with brake cleaner,) used Honda-Bond, used vise grips and tapped it in so it was tight. Never came loose again. 4 track days since and no more seeping dirty oil, no more issues.
Thanks for your origional post will

HB worked for me... but I am a clean freak and made sure that everything was oil free and applied copious volumes of HB on the t00b before putting it back in.
JB weld also works... but HB is easier to remove IMO.
