Or just break the tilt steering. At least I was able to zip tie it back together, but now am searching for a new column...
Happened in the middle of a run. Pretty amusing to be mid-turn and all of a sudden have the wheel start moving about on you. At first, I thought the lock switch had come undone, but the collar that holds the whole column in place decided to break into itty bitty pieces.
Excuses, excuses, huh? "it's the car, I swear it!"

I ran my M3 at an autocross for the first time ever this weekend. There was an extremely slow Chicago box thet required a 2-1 downshift. In my first run through, I shifted from 2nd down to Reverse.
The car didn't like it at all. Luckily there seem to be no long term effects but being in reverse at best is going to slow down your run time.

Prolly ought to stay off the steriods and out of the weight room now, Chris. Seriously, how the heck do you break the tilt mechanism in the middle of a run? Did you whack it with a knee, or just pull real hard?

You just need a little snail pumpin some air under that red hood or something. It's a little outgunned in this class unfortunately, and the only reason it's still up there is the dude behind the wheel driving so hard that it even breaks!
Well my excuse is not being used to having to look out the side windows to see where the course goes far enough ahead. Guess I’m used to seeing where the track goes in front of me through the front windshield, which didn't quite happen on this smaller site with the tighter course. I know there was a 33 out there. Oh well gota keep on practicing!

I watched a brand new focus svt do that this weekend. How in the hell does that happen? Seems like the tranny would have some kind of lock to keep it out of reverse at speed.
BTW Lee its kinda funny that happened to you...not in a bad way its just Im assuming you got skills.

Thanks Alex, but being 2 full seconds off the pace on a 35 second course is inexcusable. When the street tire class winners AND an H stock Civic run a faster raw time, there's more to it than just being a little underpowered. It wouldn't be so bad if I thought I drove poorly. I thought I was going about as fast as I could. I need to put someone who can drive in the seat to sort it out for once and for all. Will be accepting resumes at the next event.
