Default Powder-coating Intercooler

I'd like to go for that sleeper look, but want to make sure that I don't lose efficiency because of the paint blocking the fins inside the intercooler..

Does anyone know of any side-effects of really Powder-coating the intercooler? I don't want it to chip, but also want to keep efficiency inside the core.

Please, some experienced responses....

Thanks fellas.

powder coating is probaly worse than painting
If you got Xtra cash try anodizing or you could just ink it...

if you're gonna spend money on powercoating might as well just anodize(sp?) it black It's much better than powercoating i believe.

when u spray paint the IC...does it do any internal damage?? like if u spray to close to it, and how do u go about doing it? I'm thinking about painting mine when i get it for that sleeper look but i'm not sure, i don't want to mess it up... thanks

Powdercoating the endtanks only would probably cause no issues, but powdercoating the core and fins would not allow good thermal transfer. Stick to light coats of paint or anodizing for the core section.

Powdercoating is basically a colored coating of thermoset plastic. Plastic is usually a good insulator....think about it.
