Default Intake help

I was considering buying the full comptech intake and icebox, but its just way to much. I have narrowed it down to a aem intake, or and icebox with a comptech filer. please let me know. the aem is like 180 new and the comptech icebox/filter is like 210 new

Ive had both the AEM and Comptech. I sold the AEM and kept the comptech... comptech has far better throttle response, and makes more power in the midrange. The AEM is great for top-end hp.

Go with the AEM in that case. I have tried both and they seem identical....all though the Ice box is safer.

Get a K&N stock filter, and stick a drier hose under your stock intake box if you're worried about cost.

Did you see the mini intake test? stock makes more power top-end than the aem cai. Personally I would go with the Comptech.

Im pretty sure you get more mid range from the CAI (The power spike from 4-5k) and more top end from a short ram...I may be wrong, but thats what I always read.

I don't think so....Both are CAI's. Comptech is better for low end/torque. AEM CAI is for peak...and has a nice spike near vtec. I can't tell a difference between the two, but I have other mods. I think short rams yield better throttle response, but if you wanted a short ram, just take out the resonator and air box lid.

i took out my aem and did the diy icebox on the stock box and i actually COULD tell a difference over the aem and the diy icebox was only $10!!

edit: i had the car on the dyno too the same day with the totally stock intake vs. aem and it gained no power or torque. was exactly the same numbers in both cases. aem was good for the sound but not worth the money IMO

Im sure on the road the AEM or any other cold air would make a bit power than shown on a dyno.
