It's my understanding that analog gauges are more accurate for temperature gauges. I'm trying to find out the best gauges for my setup too. Check my thread... looks like budman might have the answers.

i was always told that mechanical gauges have a good chance of rupturing. Electrical is better

Auto meter gauges suck!

I am now using GREDDY electrical guages in my car, so far oil pressure and water temp.

why do autometer gauges suck? I thought they were pretty good compared to most...enlighten me as I'm looking in the near future to get me some "accurate" gauges, unlike the dash gauges.....

Autometer are terribly cheap. I don't even like to install them. Any of the Japanese gauges are good. I like mechanical for boost and electrical for all else. I currently use the Defi gauges (boost, EGT and oil temp). It has a dasiy link system with control box and what not. If you want a more inexpensive gauge try Greddy. They are the lowest cost Japanese units and great gauges. Also, all Japanese units come with all the sensors and everything you need which is nice.

Hey Dan, can you get an amber blub to make Defi gauges match the OE ITRs at night? Yes, details, details, guys...

Most things seems to be a cost/quality compromise. Autometer gauges usually do the job, but JDM stuff is definately better made.

Personally, I dislike gauges unless they're absolutely necessary.

yeah,
I've had many difference gauges in my cars and have Never been dissapointed with autometer. As far as gauges go, as long as they are accurate and don't fall apart, what else (of importance) is there? I'd be nice to have all Apexi gauges, but they aren't going to do the job any more than the autometer.

Try the Greddy 60mm gauges in silver. They light up amber and is pretty close in color to the stock instruments. I'm not sure if you can change the color on the Defi gauges but I know you can't on the Greddy and obviously on the Apexi.
