Default A whirlllll noise

I just got my car back from getting a clutch/flywheel/tranny installed. But now it has this whiny whirl kind of noise...like a mid 80's Buick doing turns in a parking lot. Only does it when I'm on the gas. Any ideas? Too vague?

kinda sounds like they didn't replace your flywheel bearing.

when does this nosie happen? If it was the throwout bearing it would only make that noise when you engage the clutch.. did they install the pilot bearing right?

The noise only happens when it's given gas. I have a fluctuating idle and I can hear it then too.

I think so. I can hear it at lot better at lower rpm's. At higher rpm's, my test pipe/exhaust rasp takes over and I cant hear ****.

What bearing is in the center of the flywheel? I've always thought that the flywheels were solid with a hole in the center with teeth so that it could be attached to the transmission.

Bizump....also, when I press down on the clutch, the noise goes away...is this actually a common noise when upgrading the flywheel/clutch/pp?

certainly seems to be a bearing in your tranny then.

What does the 'chatter' sound like? I think I've read that sometimes you get a 'chatter' when you upgrade clutches? Or am I ?

double check the install. at this point.. you can inspect it alittle bit better if you take out the starter and check to see all the bolts are torqued correctly.

with it going away when you press your clutch in it definently sounds like a pilot bearing or throw-out bearing

My friend has the same problem, he's getting it fixed this weekend. Don't wait too long to get it fixed, his old tranny is worthless now.

if it isa 96 or nwer car they put the wrong fluid in the tranny motor oil will make the tranny whir/howl... change the fluid to either honda manual trans fluid or redline mtl and the noise will go away... we always know when someone at the dealer gets lazy and punps motor oil in instaed of the funnel treatment because of the noise

New Development:

Speedometer goes out every now and then...there's a gear to determine the speed, correct? Not like cable trannys, but similar?

Get it fixed fast! That's what happened to my friends car! It made that weird noise for a while, then his speedo started going out at around 40, then it started hopping around. Then it stopped working completely, then he was locked out of gears. Then his tranny busted
