Default BAR certified B20, is it possible ?

(searched)

First off, specs.

1999 EK
1999 B20z

I've read that you can not BAR certify a B20 in a Civic chassis due to the vehicle/engine class difference. (Civic being a passenger vehicle, and the B20z being from the CRV which is a light truck)

Does anyone here have, or know someone who has, a BAR certified B20 in a Civic (or an Integra/Prelude/Accord for that matter) ? I've spent a lot of money getting my swap ready for a trip to the CA state REF. I'd hate to think that I've been wasting my time.

And here's a pic of my car (since pic posts get 90% of the traffic).

Do people ever remove/replace the vin plates on these things. We don't have to do all this in south-ga. So I dunno if that is an option or not.

no you cant get bar with a b20 because its a motor from a suv, it is not from a car.

not possible in CA.. you can move to any other state and not have a problem w/ it.. hell there are b20z all over the east coast.. just register your car under a friend or relative that does not live in CA

You can never get a BAR sticker with a B20 in a passenger car. B20 = SUV which = to Truck so you will need a truck or SUV chassis to BAR it.

2) Bore LS block to 84mm

Has anyone ever restamped a block ? Wouldn't they catch on when they ran the vin number on the block ?

Yup won't get pass the ref with a B20

U should get a LS and bore out to 84mm. It will be stronger than the b20 and probably run about the same amount of money, depending on what year ls u get.
