if you want a big turbo to make 250+ power it has to have turbo lag and you will not have power through out the whole power band. if you want powerband all through out the power band the turbo has to be small and you wont make that much power at high boost. Boost is expensive , get what you payed for

i know there is turbo lag...i dont want my boost to die at like 5500 rpm like it would w/ a small turbo...i want it to pull hard to the redline...i want some lag....if i get boost at 2000rpm i will get all tire spin....i want my boost more in the 2750-3000 rpm range...a lil less spin....

EDIT : Oops, I didn't notice you didn't want to pay more than $350. That's going to be tough.

A T3 Super 60 would do it.

A T3/T04B S-3 with a Stage 1 wheel in a .63 housing will do it too.

Run 12-14 psi and you should have your numbers.

the .48a/r will die off where you dont want it to. Super 60 in my opinion will spool too slow on an LS motor. I would go with a .57trim .63a/r. This would hold torque all the way to the LS redline and be very efficient at lower boost levels.

I had a Garret T3 .63AR stage 3 exhaust wheel w/ T04e compressor housing and 57 trim compressor wheel on my LS. @ 6psi it made 200whp, 8psi it made 230whp, and 12psi it made 270whp. Spool began @ about 2500 and it made 8psi @ 3800 and 12psi @ 4400. I couldn't have been happier w/ this turbo on my LS motor. It pulled hardest from 5-6.5k and continued to pull nice all the way to 7.5k. I would reccomend this turbo to any LS owner looking for 250-325whp.

get any kinda t3/t4e you can find. most of them will do the job and carry you to, and past, redline

but, if you want to be a big baller...and am cheap, like me , go with a Holset Hx35. You can find them for $300 and under. The wheel is comparable to the new GT wheels found in the Precision. The entire map from a 60-1 fits in the HUGE 70% island from this turbo. It's a secret to most...but is by FAR the BEST turbo for the money...ANYWHERE.

The Super-60 has a 1.900" inducer (and a 2.360" exducer like every other T3). Divide 1.9 by 2.36 and you'll get .8050847. Square that number and you get the trim which is .648 or a 65 trim.

The regular 60 trim has a 1.830" inducer.

The .48 A/R ratio that you speak of is the exhaust housing A/R. It has nothing to do with the compressor. (The only thing that changes between the different trim sizes is the compressorl). Larger exhaust wheels on T3s are refered to as stages. Stage 1 wheel is the standard exhaust wheel. Stage 1 exhaust wheel is good to around 280 bhp.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by bigwig &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">but what trim for the T3/T04B</TD></TR></TABLE>

I would use the S-3 trim. It's the smallest T04B compressor. It'll flow 37lbs/min. That is good for ~370 bhp, but you'll probably never use that much air.

If ever you want to boost more than ~15 psi, you would be better off using an E trim. The T3/T04E 40 trim would be good. You could get it with a stage 2 exhaust wheel and a .48 housing, so if ever you want to make more than 280 hp, just crank up the boost and the exhaust wheel will be happy to go there.

If you want to stick to the 250-270 range, get the T3 Super-60. You could probably even use a T3 60 trim since it's less expensive than the Super-60.

killa on the Vortex has some of the best prices for turbos on the entire internet. Check him out for sure! [ thread ]

Hope that helps!
