Default starter kill relay problem

ok i installed a DEI sidewinder alarm on my car about 2 weeks ago, and its starting to get colder here and now in the mornings when i try to start my car it won't start right away, i have to play with it a little before it will start. it basically just clicks like the power isn't going through the relay. its on a 97 accord lx.

make sure all your connections are good. If you soldered, make sure you didn't make any cold joints.

does it only do it when its remote starting?? i would also check to make sure that your car battery is in good condition cause colder weather in the morning is harder on car batterys.. get a good new battery w/ a high CCA rating

i don't have remote start since my car is a manual. when i installed it, i had to interrupt the wire that runs from the ignition to the starter motor, so basically the current has to run through the relay. i know for sure it has nothing to do with the battery. it just clicks. im gonna try to redo the connections tomorrow. the installation instructions called for a diode on the wire running from the alarm to the relay, i didn't put one in because the install tech guy at hifi-buys and two other local shops said i didn't need it. would that diode have anything to do with it?

well folks, the i re-did the connections several times and the problem didn't go away, and last night my starter finally took a poop, so today i bought another starter, and put it in. ba da bing! the car starts right up!, and when you shake the old starter around it sounds like something is broken inside. moral of the story is, it turned out being a bad starter the whole time.
