Default INTEGRA"S being stolen

man..i'm soo pissed off at the fact that integra's are bein stolen left n right..i work at LKQ hunts point auto where we salvage cars...i cant even count the amount of GS-R's we get from insurance claims without a drivetrain..they take everything from the fuel pump to the axles. from what i hear police in NY are tryin to put a stop to this by pulling over any suspicious honda driver n checkin vins on their motor. any type of mods they see..ever if u just have rims they will pull u over and make sure ur vins match if they dont n the vin on the motor comes up as a stolen vehical..man are u screwed. this happend to me with my b16 luckly i had my bill of sale in my wallet. n they let me go...hopefuly they will bust most of these thieves.

Exactly. I think its a great idea. It may be an "inconvienence", so to speak, but if you have nothing to hide, then shut up. Maybe i'm biased because I got my GSR stolen, but I think this is a good thing, and they should definetly do it here in Cali.

The guy next door just got a GSR, whats funny is they've had a car stolen from in front of their house when they started it to warm it and they went in the house for a minute to get something. They came out and it was gone.

Anyway, i park my GSR inside a gate, so they gonna try, we'll definitely know. This guy i can just see his disappearing. Nice 95 black one too.

Its quite illegal to pull someone over just because of mods, unless they are illegal. the police need a valid reason to pull you, otherwise they could pull you over for being a certain race, giving them a dirty look, etc.

Even if they do have a valid reason, they need resonable suspicion to search the car, if you dont give your permission, they either need a warrant or a very good reason and also proof that the it would not be in the car in an hour or so when they got the warrant. Having a car with a different vin number on the motor is not a crime, unless the motor with that VIN has been reported stolen. If even ONE of these things are not followed, the case will not stand up in court, even if there was 100 kilos of coke and a nuke in your car.

Most people with a stolen motor in a legit car would simply deny them the right to search the car, and unless they had reasonable suspicion (ie reports of the owner of the car, or the car itself related to the theft) than they cannot do anything.

cops always have "reasons" to pull you over.

in fact Hasboro, it is not illegal at all to be pulled over for "mods". Law reads that no road vehicle shall be altered in any way other than the way it was produced from the manufacturer. this means that a 204/40/16 tire is not legal to put on a vehicle because it is not oem. it's that simple. under that pretense, what mod is "legal"?

i dont think this is going to do jack **** ... except annoy the normal driver with mods. i'm pretty sure theives dont drive around alot in the stolen car. they stash it strip it and dump the parts .. and then some fool will buy it .. and even if you do recover an engine from a stolen car ? like couple months after or whatever, whats the owner going to do with it ? he either has a new one or scraped the car. bad solution to a bad problem

A friend of mine was driving in north jersey and got pulled over by a cop. He was driving his 00 civic si and the cop still checked his vin on his motor\trans. This was about 1.5-2 years ago too

A GS-R/Type R with no security system is a car thiefs wet dream.

I was nieve because I thought my GS-R would never get stolen in my town. Kansas City has one of the lowest car theft ratings of any city.

I sat go for it...there are too many thieves getting away with this crap.

they should be checking Civic's more than other integras. I have yet to see an integra run with a civic motor...
