Default JDM D16a6 motor--does anyone import these?

Just curious if anyone brings these over. I know they are tuned a little different and the rumor is they have a slightly more aggressive cam in them. I'd love to get ahold of an entire motor rather than a ZC or something.

there isn't a JDM D16A6 engine - closest thing is the SOHC ZC

90% sure that this is correct.
The JDM Civic Si's and CRX Si's had DOHC ZC's or SOHC carbs as far back as the 3G Civics in 1985. The D16A6 engine was for North America, only. The same way as North America was the ONLY place to get a B17A1.

Then what's this?

Per babelfish on the Japanese Honda website:

1.6L 16 VALVE PGM-FI

- The highest output (net value*): 120ps/6,300rpm
- Largest torque (net value): 14.5kg-m/5,500rpm
- 10 mode travelling fuel consumption rate: 14.8km/L (Ministry of Transport examination value, type E-EF3 36i, 56i 5 fast car)

It was an option on the 4-door and 5-door models it looks like.

See that's why I said "90% sure". LOL On HT you learn something everyday.
Now you're prolly gonna tell me about some rare JDM car with a B17A1 next, right?

You mean this?

http://crx.honda-perf.org/arti....html

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The JDM ZC. The term ZC covers several different engines. The types I’m aware of are:

SOHC 1.6 Non VTEC. This one is a little more elusive but it’s out there. It looks nearly identical to the si D16A6 but is rumored to have a more aggressive cam and the same domed pistons that are in the black valve cover model that raises the compression ratio over the flat top pistons on the D16A6. It’s supposed to make around 120 hp. I would exercise caution on this one…short of taking the head off and looking at the pistons, there’s no way to tell that it isn’t just a D16A6. </TD></TR></TABLE>

120hp? I think not. I've driven rex's with them, and they don't have 120hp.

Read again:

- Largest torque (net value): 14.5kg-m/5,500rpm

Looks like about 120hp to me. Remember that we are talking about the JDM version of the motor.

I can read, and I know we're talking about the jdm version....there's no other sohc zc's correct!!?!?! I don't know if they have them in the eurotrash version or not. I'm telling you right now though, they're nothing special. I'm sure buying one and having it shipped over isn't as cheap as just picking up a $100 sohc motor here for a measly 8hp. (120ps=118hp) If the only difference is the cam, just pick up a delta cam for 65 bucks and you have a sohc zc eater.
