Default Please comment on OBX exhaust

I was just wondering what you guys think about the OBX catback exhaust for CRX's. I'm in between going with that or doing a custom mandrel catback with a canister type coming out of the stock location.

Is OBX any good in quality? I'm on a tight budget and that is why I'm even considering it.........it's the only one on my price range.

thanks,
L.

is that like the same thing as the ractive catback? the round muffler with 1 inlet and 2 outlets that exit in the stock location?

a friend of mine has the ractive ss catback on his b16a2 crx. the fit and finish of the system is not bad for the price. i dont remember how the sound was though...i dont think it was too loud. im guessing the obx is about the same as the ractive, most of the off brands are actually the same things with different stickers and pricetags.

sorry, i know that doesnt help at all.....

I have the OBX DT (dual tip) fit and finish are nice. fantastic for the price. Not as deep as a Brospeed, but a whole lot cheaper. Bought mine on E-bay for $275 and shipping for the Cat Back. Huge imporvement over the stock system and realy could tell no difference power wise from the Brospeed. (took brospeed off because midpipe got trashed on a drain at parking garage. The OBX actually fits better than the OEM system did on mine or the Brospeed. The Brospeed and the OEM hung lower in the middle than the OBX does. Important on a car thats lowered 2.5 inches.

OBX is ok for price but as far as sound it's REALLY loud and sounds ricey. I'd pick a HKS or Greddy over that universal muffler

It is actually the one with the round muffler on the stock location but with one outlet as the tailpipe. You can view it at:

I'm not too crazy about the tip, it is pretty huge but I can't complain for that price.

I saw the listing, great price. Guess if I waited longer that would be mine, but I like the dual tip look better.

The Brospeed I had was a single tip like that, My current OBX is a Dual tip, its a tad ricey sounding I admit, but is no louder than the Brospeed Bosal was. Factor in $275 for mine vs 500 for the big brand I can deal with a little bit of rice. THe two both worked just as well as each other as far as the butt Dyno is concerned.

i have the OBX 2.5 cat back DTM system with a high flow pipe (also obx)

it fit great, is good quality construction. and as far as the noise i dont htink it is loud at all. even with the Test pipe. it will all but dissappear with my turbo muffling it more.
i don think yo ucan beat the bang for the buck with this one.

Correct, mine is 2.5 also A cat back, stainless.. I also have an OBX stainless header I picked up for $117 bid on ebay also (also new) Fit and finish on it was also excellent. And they both made huge inprovements over the stock ZC header and exhaust system.

i had an obx exhaust on my 92 hatch w/kinda built b16. sounded freakin AWESOME for the money.

i think i had the type s, not the type h though. the fit wasnt all that great, but i also had a test pipe and the jdm 4-1 header. i had an exhaust shop cut a small piece out of it to fit, and the guy said it was amazing quality SS. he had a hard time cutting it with a sawzall

so far, with my luck, obx has kicked some major *** for being a "cheap" company. i'd buy from them again if i needed something they had
