Tire alternative sizes for 91 CRX SI
I recently purchased 16" rims w/205 40 16 tires (Bridgestone Potenza all season). Nice set up, but I've come to hate the practicality of the low profile rims riding an inch or less above the pavement. I've messed up one rim already.....my question is what is the tallest profile 16" 205 tire that will provide adequate clearence on my CRX? I need to get those rims off the pavement....will 205 55's work? Realize manufacturers specs vairy a bit, and that I'll lose some acceleration with larger diameter tires. thanks msmith

What he said. The use of that large a rim will cause problems with clearance or rim damage. 15" rims are good. I run 195/50 -15 with absolutely none of the above mentioned problems.
